Bishop Andrian (Chetvergov) of Kazan and Vyatka was elected head of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church
On February 9, the Consecrated Council of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church (ROOC), held in the Pokrovsky Cathedral at the Rogozhsky cemetery in Moscow, elected Andrian (Chetvergov), Bishop of Kazan and Vyatka, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Rus'. With 230 delegates, at least 157 votes were required to win. 167 delegates voted for Vladyka Andrian. For his rival, the locum tenens of the metropolitan throne, Bishop of Kostroma and Yaroslavl John (Vitushkin), 58 votes were cast.
