On July 28, 2004, "Mariyskaya Pravda" reported on the holding of a press conference on the facts of anti-Semitism by the Jewish community of the city in Yoshkar-Ola. At a press conference, it was stated that acts of vandalism and attempts to incite ethnic and inter-confessional conflicts have become more frequent. The representatives of the community presented the facts of manifestations of anti-Semitism in Yoshkar-Ola. The speakers doubted that the perpetrators would be found.

In July 2004, the Supreme Court of Russia rejected a cassation appeal from a religious association of Old Believers-Ynglings. At the suit of the main department of the Ministry of Justice, the community was liquidated by the decision of the Omsk Regional Court for using Nazi symbols (swastikas).
