Tightening the rules for holding rallies in Moscow
On December 7, 2005, the Moscow City Duma adopted in the first reading the law "On Ensuring the Conditions for the Exercise of the Right of Citizens of the Russian Federation to Hold Meetings, Rallies, Demonstrations, Marches and Pickets" in the city of Moscow. According to this law, permits for rallies with more than 5,000 participants, as well as simultaneous actions in several districts of Moscow, will be issued not by prefectures, but by the city government.
