The seventh issue of the yearbook "Public Opinion" for 2005 among the main results of the socio-political and socio-economic research conducted by the Center, in particular, summarizes the studies of interethnic relations.

On August 7, 2006, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the decision of the Moscow Regional Court, which extended until December 12, 2006, the period of arrest of two defendants in the case of blowing up the Grozny-Moscow passenger train on June 12, 2005. The complaint of the defense, which asked to change the measure of restraint for the client to any one not related to the arrest, was rejected.

The period between end-July and early August 2006 in Russia was marked by an outburst of nationalist violence, leaving at least two dozen casualties, including one death. The violence was linked primarily to the celebration of the Airborne Troops Day on 2 August - traditionally on this day open-air markets, where traders are from the Caucasus, Central Asia, China and Vietnam, are raided.

On August 6, 2006, in Ussuriysk (Primorsky Territory), a group of young people, presumably skinheads, attacked a Chinese citizen and inflicted numerous stab wounds on him. The victim is hospitalized. On August 7, 2006, it became known that on the fact of an attack a criminal case was opened on the natives of Dagestan in an electric train near Moscow under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("causing grievous bodily harm"). The prosecutor's office, which took control of the investigation, does not confirm that the attack was motivated by ethnic hatred.

On the evening of August 5, 2006, on the train from Orekhovo-Zuyevo to Moscow, a group of unidentified men who looked like skinheads attacked three natives of Dagestan. Young people, shaved bald, in camouflage and high heavy boots, beat the victims and stabbed them several times, after which they jumped out of the train at the Malenkovskaya station and disappeared. Medical assistance to the victims was provided only upon the arrival of the train at the Yaroslavsky railway station.

August 7, 2006 is scheduled for consideration in the Moscow City Court of a complaint against the verdict in the case of an attack on the singer Liza Umarova and her son. The lawyers are appealing against the repeated verdict handed down by the Moscow Dorogomilovsky Court against Alexei Petrenko and Sergei Bagrov under Art. 282 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity").

On August 7, 2006, preliminary hearings of the criminal case under Art. 282 h. 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The prosecutor's office of the Leninsky district of the city charged the defendant with distributing extremist literature: a Yekaterinburg resident was detained for selling Mein Kampf, Vladimir Starkhov's book The Blow of the Russian Gods, and Konstatin Rodzaevsky's Testament of a Russian Fascist. He is currently under bail.
