Pogrom at Muslim cemeteries in Yekaterinburg and near Sergiev Posad
On August 3, 2006, there was a pogrom at a closed Muslim cemetery in Yekaterinburg. The attackers broke about 10 monuments and smashed the windows in the watchman's booth. According to the Mufti of the Yekaterinburg Cathedral Mosque Sibgatulla Hadji, the incident is an ordinary hooliganism that does not have a nationalist connotation. On August 6, 2006, graves were destroyed in the cemetery of the village of Remmash, Sergiev Posad district, Moscow region.
