On September 2, 2006, after an anti-Caucasian rally that took place in front of the building of the city administration of Kondopoga, a second wave of pogroms swept through the city. About two thousand people attended the rally itself, held under anti-Caucasian slogans. The rally's resolution was clearly discriminatory against not only Chechens, but also natives of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
