In May 2008, in Vologda, a drunken passenger attacked a bus driver from Uzbekistan. The attacker began to beat the driver while the bus was moving. As a result, the bus had an accident, crashing into a fixed-route taxi. No other casualties have been reported. According to Sergey Maltsev, one of the leaders of the non-profit partnership of Vologda carriers, the reason for the attack is nationalist. It is reported that the attacker paid a fine for an administrative offense.

On May 13, 2008, Yuri Samodurov, director of the Sakharov museum in Moscow, was charged on the basis of Paragraph 2, Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code (incitement to national and religious hatred), for the 2006 exhibition "Forbidden Art'.

In mid-July 2008, in the Kaluga region, materials deemed extremist were confiscated from the local Muslim organization Sunnah. Employees of the Regional Directorate of the FSB of Russia found printed publications intended for mass distribution in the building of the organization. The titles of the found publications are not reported, but it is known that they are included in the federal list of extremist materials .

On July 15, 2008, the first court session took place in the case of the National Bolshevik Andrei Nikitin, accused under Art. 282.2 (organization of the activities of an extremist organization) for participating in an action during the screening of the film "A Kiss Not for the Press" at the Moscow "Khudozhestvenny" cinema. Three witnesses who spoke at the meeting confirmed the fact of Nikitin's participation in the action, but did not testify on the article presented to him.

On July 15, 2008, the trial began in Penza in the case of Pyotr Kuznetsov, the leader of reclusive sectarians who had walled themselves up in anticipation of the end of the world. Kuznetsov is charged with Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliating the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the basis of nationality, attitudes towards religion, committed in public) and Part 1 of Art.

On the night of July 15-16 in Ivanovo, images of a swastika appeared on the apartment door and in the entrance of the house of the head of the city's Jewish community, Erwin Kirshtein. E. Kirshtein stated that he considers this not hooliganism. According to him, "this is an action in the political struggle within the Ivanovo community ," but he would not like to publicly name those whom he has in mind.
