We publish a list of convictions for public incitement to extremist activity (Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) issued in 2008 (with the exception of those that we consider unlawful). So far, there are few such sentences in Russia. In addition, we draw the attention of our readers to the fact that sometimes the prosecution under Art. 280 is combined with the charge of inciting ethnic hatred (Article 282).

*In 2008, there were at least 44 convictions for nationalist propaganda (not including those court decisions that we consider unlawful). We provide a general list of these sentences. In addition, two sentences were handed down for acts of vandalism, in which the motive of hatred is present as a qualifying feature. Such sentences are rare in Russian judicial practice and their number is not growing.
