On October 23, it became known that in Novokuznetsk a criminal case on the distribution of extremist materials of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization was submitted to the court. According to the materials available in the case, in January 2009, in the prayer room of the Abdu-Rahmon religious organization, the accused distributed several brochures, which contained calls for the killing of people on the basis of their religious affiliation. Formally, the accused is not a member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir.

On October 22, 2009, the verdict under part 2 of article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism committed motivated by ethnic hatred) of the magistrate of the 234th judicial district of the Sergiev Posad judicial district came into force against an 18-year-old college student, Kirill Kazurov. The verdict was handed down on September 29, 2009. The court sentenced Kazurov to 1 year and 6 months of suspended liberty, with the same probationary period.

Jehovah's Witnesses sent letters to the Public Chamber and to the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for Assistance to the Development of Civil Society Institutions E. Pamfilova. In these appeals they ask "to protect the rights and freedoms of believers" in Russia. In these documents, Jehovah's Witnesses draw attention to cases of recognition of their literature and one of their organizations as extremist.

On October 5, 2009, a consignment of Jehovah's Witness literature was detained for two weeks at the Northwestern Customs. At the end of September of this year, a transit cargo with their literature in the Kyrgyz language was also detained at the Bryansk customs for two weeks. Suspicions of extremism served as the basis for additional inspection in both cases.

On October 23, it became known that two preliminary hearings were held in the city court of the closed territorial formation "City of Novouralsk" in the case of the distribution of Jehovah's Witness literature in the Novouralsk city district.

On October 21, 2009, the Novosibirsk Regional Court completed the formation of a jury in the case against a group of young people accused of killing Tajik citizen Abdulatip Tursunov motivated by ethnic hatred in October 2008. Alexei Noskov (Bars), Alexei Kazakov (Borman), Anatoly Gladyshev (Gas) and two minors are involved in the case. The Collegium was formed at the request of the defense.
