Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor's Office on "extremist crimes"
On April 13, 2010, Vasily Piskarev, deputy chairman of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office (SKP) of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta that the number of "extremist" crimes is growing in Russia. "Statistics can start with 152 cases that were committed in 2005, and end with 548 cases in 2009. Our country is multinational and multi-confessional, so an increase in the scale of extremist manifestations is really taking place," Piskalev said .
