In mid-February 2014, members of the Russian Orthodox Church began collecting signatures under an appeal to the patriarch, advocating a change in church policy and the removal of Fr. Vsevolod Chaplin. Authors of the letter oppose the modern course of the ROC, which, in their opinion, “is full identification with the internal politics of the state, including secular and pagan components.
