Bashkir activist who is being persecuted under Art. 280.1, 205.2 and 280 of the Criminal Code, add a new episode - this time on the financing of extremist activities. On January 16, 2020, the investigator of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan opened a criminal case under Art. 282.3 of the Criminal Code (financing of extremist activity) in relation to the activist of the Bashkir national movement Airat Dilmukhametov.

We present the joint report of the members of the Working Group of the Civil Solidarity Platform on counter-terrorism, anti-extremism and human rights: - Information and analytical center "Sova" (Russian Federation), - "Kadir-kasiet" (Republic of Kazakhstan), - "One World" (Kyrgyz Republic), - Office of Civil Liberties (Republic of Tajikistan). The Russian approach to countering extremism has been adopted by several post-Soviet countries.

The Orenburg court returned to the prosecutor the case of six Jehovah's Witnesses accused of continuing the activities of an extremist organization. On January 14, 2020, the Industrial District Court of Orenburg returned the case of six Jehovah's Witnesses to the prosecutor due to the vague nature of the charges and the lack of indication of the motives and goals of the crimes.

In Kazan, a trial has begun on the case of the construction of the Rahmatulla mosque, which is opposed by local residents. On January 23, 2020 it became known that in the Aircraft Building District court of Kazan began consideration of a class action lawsuit against the construction of the Rahmatulla mosque on intersection of Simonova and Godovikov. Recall the lawsuit was filed in court in October 2019, it was signed by more than 20 people.

Two Jehovah's Witnesses from the Murmansk region were found guilty under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code and will have to pay large fines. On January 24, 2020, the Polyarny District Court of the Murmansk Region issued a verdict in the case of Jehovah's Witnesses Viktor Trofimov and Roman Markin, who were accused of organizing the activities of an extremist organization (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).
