Ekaterina Pegasheva is accused of organizing the activities of an extremist organization. On September 17, 2020, it became known that in the Republic of Mari El, the case of 31-year-old follower of the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses Ekaterina Pegasheva, who is accused under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization of the activities of an extremist organization). The initiation of the case became known in October 2019.

The following is our review of the primary and most representativeevents in misuse of Russia's anti-extremist legislation in August 2020.

The Catholic parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus sent an appeal to the governor with a proposal to share the building of the Alexander Church with the community and the Philharmonic. Earlier, the court recommended that the government of the region agree to a settlement agreement with the Catholics.

The court replaced Vladimir Alushkin's real term of imprisonment with a suspended one. On September 16, 2020, the Penza Regional Court on appeal commuted the sentence of Vladimir Alushkin, a follower of the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, replacing six years in prison with four years of suspended imprisonment. The court left the verdict of five believers, who were also defendants in this case, unchanged.

The 58-year-old believer was found guilty of participating in the activities of an extremist organization and of committing sexual assault against minors. On September 16, 2020, the Investigative Committee reported that a court in Rostov-on-Don found a 58-year-old follower of the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses guilty under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization) and paragraph "c" part 3 of Art.

Against two soldiers of the Baltic Fleet who participated in the "ablution" feet in the source, a case has been opened for insulting the feelings of believers. September 17, 2020 military investigation department of the Kaliningrad garrison filed a case under Part 1 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insulting religious feelings) in against two servicemen of one of the units of the Baltic Fleet.

A local resident is suspected under Part 3 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code. On September 16, 2020, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia reported that a case was initiated against a 44-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk under Part 3 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code (desecration of symbols of military glory of Russia, committed in public).
