In Moscow, a native of Dagestan was beaten for supporting Armenia in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. In early February 2021, a video was circulated on social networks, where, according to Azerbaijani telegram channels, natives of Azerbaijan beat a Dagestani in Moscow for supporting the Armenians in the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. A young man is beaten by a whole group and forced to apologize to "Azerbaijan".

The case of Jehovah's Witnesses Bachurin, Kostrov and Netreba, accused under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code, is considered by the court. In February 2021, it became known that on December 28, 2020, the Sovetsky District Court of Lipetsk began considering the case of Jehovah's Witnesses Viktor Bachurin, Alexander Kostrov and Artur Netreba, accused under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization).

Jehovah's Witness Anatoly Gorbunov is charged under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code. On February 9, 2021, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia announced the completion of the investigation and the transfer to court of the case of a 63-year-old Jehovah's Witness accused of organizing the activities of an extremist organization (part 1 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).

In 2020, the number of registered crimes of a terrorist nature and extremist orientation has significantly increased, according to a report on the state of crime published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, the number of sentences handed down under "extremist" articles over the year has slightly decreased compared to the previous period, follows from the words of the Chairman of the Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev.

The law on restricting access to Internet sites for censoring Russian media is supplemented by penalties. On February 9, 2021, the State Duma adopted in the second reading amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses establishing liability for various violations related to the "sovereign Internet". By the second reading, the bill was added, in particular, a new art. 19.7.10-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
