On July 31, 2024, the Aleysky City Court of the Altai Territory received a criminal case against local activist Nikolai Usov. The reason for the prosecution is unknown. Previously, Usov was twice held liable under Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

A criminal case has been opened in Yekaterinburg regarding the repeated display of tattoos with Nazi symbols. On August 5, 2024, it became known that a criminal case was opened in Yekaterinburg under Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code (repeated public display of Nazi symbols). The case was brought against 21-year-old mechanic Alexander Budakov, who reportedly showed off his Zig rune tattoo on his neck to passersby.

The reason for the persecution of Kushnir was several videos that he published on his YouTube channel. On July 28, 2024, 39-year-old pianist from Tambov, former soloist of the Birobidzhan Regional Philharmonic Pavel Kushnir died of heart failure as a result of a dry hunger strike in SIZO-1 in Birobidzhan. He declared a hunger strike from the first day of his stay in the pretrial detention center.

A regional Duma deputy was found guilty of distributing extremist material for comparing the words of priest Maxim Serpitsky with a quote from Mein Kampf. On August 5, 2024, the Kirovsky District Court of Astrakhan fined the deputy of the Astrakhan Regional Duma from the party "A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth", former State Duma deputy Oleg Shein two thousand rubles, finding him guilty under Article 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (dissemination of extremist materials).

In Magadan, a court sentenced Vitaly Tkachenko to 2 years in prison, finding him guilty of public calls for extremism. On July 23, 2024, a verdict was handed down in Magadan in a case of public calls for extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). The case was opened against 42-year-old Vitaliy Tkachenko, who, according to law enforcement agencies, published comments on Telegram calling for reprisals against Russians.

Earlier, Rita Shumaeva was fined for anti-war publications on VKontakte. On August 2, 2024, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug announced the completion of the investigation into a case initiated under Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code (repeated discrediting of the use of the Russian armed forces) against a local resident.

Rita Shumaeva was fined 100 thousand rubles for anti-war publications on VKontakte. On September 3, 2024, the Lomonosovsky District Court of Arkhangelsk passed a verdict under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 of the Criminal Code (repeated discrediting of the use of the Russian armed forces) to pensioner Rita Shumaeva. She was sentenced to a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The seized equipment was also confiscated from her as a crime weapon.

Nikolai Usov was brought to justice under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 CC. Previously, he was fined for publishing anti-war materials. On August 29, 2024, the Aleisky City Court of the Altai Territory convicted local activist Nikolai Usov under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 of the Criminal Code (repeated discrediting of the use of the Russian armed forces). The court sentenced him to one and a half years of imprisonment, which was replaced by forced labor.

In Irkutsk, a prisoner is suspected of repeatedly displaying his swastika tattoo. On August 5, 2024, it became known that a criminal case was opened in Irkutsk under Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code (repeated public display of Nazi symbols). The case was brought against a 46-year-old prisoner who, according to law enforcement agencies, showed other prisoners his swastika tattoo on his forearm.

Sergey Platonov was punished under Art. 20.29 Administrative Code. On August 5, 2024, the Timiryazevsky District Court of Moscow brought to administrative responsibility under Art. 20.29 Administrative Code (mass distribution of extremist materials) Sergey Platonov. The amount of the fine assigned to him as a punishment is unknown.

In July 2024, we learned of 13 victims of hate attacks. We learned of most of the incidents from far-right Telegram channels that posted videos of violent attacks on people of Central Asian, Caucasian, “non-Slavic” appearance, homeless, or other people the far right considers “disgracing the white race.” In total, we learned of 155 victims of hate attacks in 2024.
