On October 18, 2024, the pastor of the Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith “Church of the Holy Trinity” Nikolai Romanyuk was detained in Moscow. Islam Zakirov was sentenced to a year and eight months in prison under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code for the punchline about a “preventive strike” against a “pregnant Russian.” On October 22, 2024, the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow convicted rapper Islam Zakirov under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of hatred or enmity, committed with the threat of violence). It is still unknown what criminal case the search was related to and who the defendants were. On October 11, 2024, a search was conducted at the home of a large family of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kazan. According to believers, during the search they were subjected to rough treatment; they were also required to unlock electronic devices and provide access to contacts. The smartphones of all family members were confiscated.
