On January 31, 2026, in Yaroslavl, near the Aura shopping center, a group of neo-Nazis attacked three teenagers, one of whom turned out to be a member of the Komsomol of the Russian Federation. The attackers accosted young people in the shopping center, they tried to provoke them and called for help. As a result, about 10 Nazi skinheads gathered in the shopping center. The teenagers turned to the guards for help, they called the National Guard, and the far-right fled.

On January 27, the 1st Western District Military Court sentenced under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (justification of terrorism) 40-year-old Andrei Gneushev to five years and a month in a general regime colony with a two-year deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to posting appeals and other materials on the Internet, because of a comment in support of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK).

The reason for the criminal prosecution of the Kirov resident was comments to news posts in one of the messengers. On February 3, 2026, the Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Kirov Region reported on the initiation of a criminal case against a 27-year-old resident of the regional capital. He is accused under Part 4 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code (insult to the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, committed using the Internet).

On February 2, 2026, it became known that the Novoshakhtinsky District Court of the Rostov Region sentenced Vadim Davydenko under Part 1 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives) and Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities).

On January 30, 2026, the ROA cell of the National Socialist Organization for the Liberation of White Europe posted a message that it was taking responsibility for the “liquidation” of the deputy head of the department of control and supervision in the field of communications, Alexei Belyaev. The murder took place on January 19 in the Roskomnadzor building in Kitay-Gorod.

The department filed a claim about this to the Samara Regional Court. On February 3, 2026, it became known that the Department of the Ministry of Justice for the Samara Region demanded that the regional public LGBT organization “Irida” be recognized as extremist. The department sent the corresponding claim to the Samara Regional Court back in November 2025. On January 23, 2026, Judge Tatyana Rodina decided to transfer the case to another court.

In January 2026, we became aware of 12 people who had suffered hate-motivated attacks. Some of these attacks were stated as a response to the death of far-right activist Ilya (Kvas) Polezhaev, who was killed in the village of Fryazevo, Moscow region on January 18 (see below). For example, an attack on a passerby of “non-Slavic appearance” in Yekaterinburg was declared as such.

On February 1, 2026, it became known that the prosecutor of the Kirov district of Rostov-on-Don went to court with a demand to ban the activities of the community of the International Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (MCC ECB) in Rostov. The reason for going to court was the violations identified during the inspection, in particular, the lack of notification about the start of the activities of the religious group.
