The number of terrorist crimes registered during the year approached six thousand, the number of extremist crimes exceeded two thousand. In February 2026, a report on the state of crime over the past year was published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the report, in January-December 2025, 5,920 crimes of a terrorist nature were registered (+59.4% by 2024).

On February 13, 2026, in accordance with the orders of the Russian Ministry of Justice, Mikhail (Mishshi) Oreshnikov, among others, was included in the register of foreign agents. Indeed, Mikhail Oreshnikov (Mishshi Oreshnikov, Savvik Shuster) is a well-known neo-Nazi in Russia, originally from Cheboksary. Since at least 2007, he has taken part in the actions of neo-Nazi groups.

The case was initiated under Art. 205.5 CC. On February 12, 2026, 42-year-old Nariman Seytaliev was detained in the village of Glubokiy Yar, Bakhchisarai district of Crimea. The Kyiv District Court of Simferopol took him into custody under Part 1 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organizing the activities of a terrorist organization). On the same day, Yunus Suleymanov (b. 1986) was detained in Bakhchisarai; what preventive measure was chosen for him has not yet been specified.

On February 13, 2026, the Moscow Regional Court released Vasily Boyko-Velikiy from punishment in the case of organizing a criminal community and illegal acquisition of land. In November 2025, Boyko-Veliky was sentenced to 15 and a half years in prison in a criminal case (Article 210 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, in 2003 he created a community to buy land in the Ruza district of the Moscow region.

In Yekaterinburg, a case of vandalism motivated by national hatred is being considered in court. On February 16, 2026, the Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg began to consider the merits of the criminal case of Daniil Nuryev, born in 2003, accused under Part 2 of Art. 214 of the Criminal Code (vandalism motivated by national hatred), Part 1 of Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activities), Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism).

“ Citizen of the USSR” from Rezh was sent for compulsory treatment. On January 28, 2026, the Rezhevsk City Court of the Sverdlovsk Region, in a closed court session, considered the criminal case of local resident Evgeniy Sh., accused under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization).

Yurginets spoke harshly about the deputies on social networks - he was arrested under Art. 20.3.1 Code of Administrative Offences. On February 12, 2026, the Yurga City Court of the Kemerovo Region arrested for three days under Art. 20.3.1 Code of Administrative Offenses (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) by Dmitry Goncharuk. The reason was the comments made by Goncharuk in the public pages “PE Kuzbass” and “Yurga Podslushano” on VKontakte.

On February 12, 2026, the First Directorate for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia announced that a criminal case had been opened against a 44-year-old local resident. He was charged under Part 1.1 of Art. 205.1 (financing of terrorism), Part 1 of Art.

Alexander and Irina Elizarov were taken into custody, Igor Balashov and Igor Popov were sent under house arrest in a case initiated under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code. The latter was hospitalized. On February 3, 2026, in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, FSB officers brought about 10 Jehovah's Witnesses for interrogation. Four people were accused in the new criminal case, two of them were sent to pre-trial detention.

In Penza, a case of calls for violence against migrants from Central Asia and the Caucasus has been brought to court. On February 13, 2026, the press service of the regional FSB Directorate of Russia reported that the case of a 37-year-old resident of the Penza region under Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities).
