A criminal case has been initiated under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code. On March 19, 2026, searches of Jehovah's Witnesses were conducted in Chita and other settlements of the Trans-Baikal Territory. At least 10 people have become defendants in a new criminal case, five of them are accused of organizing extremist activities (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), the rest are accused of participating in it (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).

Daniil Zakharov was found guilty under Art. 20.3.1 Code of Administrative Offences. On March 2, 2026, the Central District Court of Novosibirsk fined local resident Daniil Zakharov 10 thousand rubles under Art. 20.3.1 Code of Administrative Offenses (incitement of hatred and enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity). The reason for the administrative case was Zakharov’s publication in the Telegram messenger.

On March 23, 2026, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan recognized the public association VATANÇI (VATANCHI, VATANCHI, “Patriot”) as extremist. This is an ethno-nationalist and separatist movement that advocates an end to the oppression of the Tatar people, the unification of the Tatars and the de-occupation of Tatarstan. The Vatanchy movement also distributed materials promoting pan-Turkism.
