Vladimir Nabokov. Essay "The Tragedy of Tragedy" (translation)
Vladimir Nabokov's second theatrical essay, wittily titled "The Tragedy of Tragedy," is significantly longer than the first. This should be taken into account when starting to read it. In it, Nabokov is true to himself: lush epithets, long phrases (breaking them into several, of course, is unacceptable), extravagant conclusions, biting comparisons. But it’s incredibly interesting to follow his thoughts, even if you don’t always agree with him.
