#mymemorial
You see, history is a shame. This is a hangover “What have I done?!”, followed by a painstaking assembly of a chain of events. These are blood-drunk berserkers, tearing out their eyes in the morning and hastily cutting both the remaining witnesses and the surviving evidence. It is difficult to face shame.

Ian Ginzburg, "Social capitalism of Anatoly Zverev"
I went to Ian Ginzburg’s exhibition “ Social Capitalism of Anatoly Zverev ” at Art4ru, curated by Ivan Streltsov. Ginzburg found more than a thousand copies of a book about Zverev, published in the early 1990s. I was used to seeing it on the shelves of smart apartments and was surprised that such a significant piece of the circulation lay unaccounted for for so many years. After all, Zverev was one of the first rediscovered legends of the underground; people who were far from art knew him.

Kirill Savelyev in "Richter"
I can’t forget your attentive gaze, the trash cat from Kirill Savelyev’s photograph. You are Bagheera, I am Mowgli, you and I are of the same blood. You are hanging between two garbage cans, and I: on the left is history, on the right is culture. The left one stinks very much, it is filled with corpses, and my body will be loaded there someday. The contents of the right one are covered with several layers of varnish, repelling unwanted aromas.

So awkward Lerysol D...
It is fear that forces a person to be vigilant. Cautious. And suspicious Cormac McCarthy Cozy empty cafe, butter, crispy fresh croissant, freshly squeezed citrus, gram coffee…. Crazy acoustics... Slow strumming... So awkward. Violated by presence. Having flown into a randomly selected early French one. Bringing her after bed, without digging too much, satisfying only her needs, just in case, an attempt to politely have her breakfast.

Nikita Alekseev at MAMM
(text published in November 2021) Taking advantage of the QR code privilege for the first time, I went to MAMM to see various exhibitions, including those of the late Nikita Alekseev. It felt like he existed in two non-intersecting streams - words and things. And every day he sat down with a piece of paper in order to catch something from this and that stream.

Excerpt from "The Serpent and the Rainbow" by Wade Davis
“My brother was sentenced right to the cemetery,” Angelina Narcisse sat down in a chair, spreading her legs. Driven by the morning sun, we retreated into the shade of a thatched hut. Oozing between the frail beams, the rays illuminated a dozen portraits of President Duvalier and his wife. Michelle Duvalier's retouched face didn't look bad. The exhibition was complemented by red and black flags to match Angelina’s long dress. The houses around looked like a handful of stones embedded in dry clay.

Alexander Kutovoy, "Bulky Biceps"
(text published in September 2021) As the author of the first, it seems, published review of Sasha Kutovoy’s exhibition (Kommersant newspaper, 04/10/2016), I must admit that I don’t understand his new works at all. Or rather, I understand them too well, without reserve, as the things of the Recycle group, which are obvious from any point of view and effective insofar as they translate into sculptural form what seems to us not to be petrified in a museum (Facebook, Futurama, etc).

Bataille and the Greeks
Georges Bataille wrote in an era not too far removed from our own. Like us, in his gaze there were more things that were incomprehensible than things that were understandable. In his era, metaphysics had already ended, but, unlike us, he still remembered something about it. They told him something about her in his youth, and he remembered it. One of those who spoke was Russian emigrant Lev Shestov. Bataille was impressed by Shestov and his sense of humor, and together they read Phaedo.

Urs Fischer, "Big Clay No. 4"
(text published in January 2021) Urs Fischer, in my opinion, is a strong average guy, but the wave has risen to such an extent that something needs to be thought about and expressed. In addition, it is necessary to track the movements of global money and meanings in Moscow; this rarely happens here. For me, the sculpture is later and worse than Jeff Koons’ “Plasticine” (1994-2014). But contemporary art is made by spectators, as both artists and figures around us never tire of reminding us.

Oleg Mironov. Religion as a functional system
All human activity involves performing a set of important tasks. If we set out to understand what social tasks religion performs, we will be faced primarily with functionalism, a well-known phenomenon in science; in particular, many know the figure of Bronislaw Malinowski, a major researcher of religion from the position of functionalism.
