The Pentagon collected biomaterial from Russians to study the musculoskeletal system. Thus, in the United States, they tried to study various markers associated with injuries. As Beau Downey, a representative of the Air Force Training Command (AETC) of the US Air Force, told RIA Novosti, for the Air Force research, 12 samples of RNA and 27 samples of the synovial membrane, which produces the synovial fluid necessary for joint function, were required.
