The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) examined the claims of nine Russians detained during peaceful protests in 2006, 2010 and 2011, and awarded them a total of 75 thousand euros in compensation. The ECHR found the Russian authorities guilty of violating Article 11 of the Human Rights Convention (the right to freedom of assembly) and ordered the plaintiffs to pay 75 thousand euros in compensation and 22 thousand euros to cover legal costs.
