The share of gold in Russian exports exceeded the share of gas for the first time
In the second quarter of 2020, gold exports from Russia exceeded pipeline gas exports, RBC found out , citing data from the Federal Customs Service (FCS) and the Central Bank. This has not happened in the structure of Russian exports for at least a quarter of a century, but expensive gold compensates for only 10% of the income lost on cheaper oil and gas, experts are sure. In April and May alone, Russian companies exported 65.4 tons of gold worth $3.55 billion.
