"Theater of payments." How Russia is trying to avoid default
Before Friday, Russia, at all pairs, rushed to its first default for international obligations since 1918: May 4 ended a 30-day grace period, during which Russia was supposed to pay coupon payments in dollars, but in every possible way demonstrated that it was not going to do this. And only on Friday the Ministry of Finance finally announced that he transferred the payment in dollars. Apparently, while the default is postponed, but the risk that this scenario is still implemented is preserved.
