"Self -preferred and self -propelled ..."
Miniature from the facial arch: Lazarus-Service sets the watch To the 605th anniversary of the first tower hours in Moscow For a long time, medieval cities did without tower hours. Life flowed measuredly and leisurely, the time was practically not noticed, and there was only a scream of a rooster that proclaimed a new day, and the sunrise and sunset, sharing a day for day and night. Sunny watches were convenient only on clear days and in Rus' rarely met.

Five barriers to recognition
Old age comes recognition. In the current fundamental sciences, real world recognition comes only if you managed to print your work in English. After all, such recognition means a wide implementation of them in science. Of my 390 printed works, about 120 are printed abroad, mainly in English and German, but there is also in Spanish, French, Polish, Slovenian, etc. This is almost a third. I have 21 monographs, of which 8 are printed abroad. It seems that you can’t complain.

Home seminar as a lifestyle
I don’t remember how I came up with the idea of organizing a seminar at home. Most likely, there was no clear “first shock”. True, by the time of the first meetings - and this was 1967 - I had experience of participating in two informal seminars that had met ten years earlier within the walls of completely official institutions. My considerations in favor of “at-home” and at the same time collective studies in science were as follows: 1) Household.

You don’t have to be a scientist, but you must be a nanotechnologist!
Dear editors, We live in an amazing time, a time when unprecedented opportunities arise and previously unshakable boundaries are erased! And I am very glad that our country, despite the difficult life, the shocks we have experienced and the global financial crisis imposed on us overseas behind the scenes, is, one might say, at the forefront of this process.

The mystery of eye micromovements
Human eyes are constantly in motion. Even when we look at a small stationary point, our gaze makes micromovements that we do not notice - the so-called microsaccades. For a long time it was believed that they represented only “noise” of the system that controls the eye, but in the 2000s. evidence has emerged that they reflect hidden shifts in attention.

Aryan Burovsky and plagiarism
In the 14th issue of Trinity Option, a large article by Lev Samuilovich Klein, who described several entertaining cases from the life of scientific plagiators, was published. Now we are printing an article by two young researchers, telling another incident, again connected with the work of Professor Klein. From November 2006 to June 2007, we and our friends went to the Institute of Linguistic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. There was a very lively scientific discussion.

Fresh Supernova residues
The most famous remainder of the supernova is crab -shaped nebula. Thanks to Chinese and Arab astronomers, it is known when an explosion occurred - on July 4, 1054, the nebula expands at a speed of about 1000 km per second, and its diameter reached about 2 parsecs. The picture is taken using three cosmic telescopes: “Hubble” (visible light, green and dark blue color), “Spitzer” (infrared range, red color) and “Chandra” (soft X-ray, light blue color).

What is science?
From the point of view of most scientists, this is an idle question. Scientists, as a rule, do not consider it necessary to spend their time and neurons on terminological speculation, since they are engaged in business . So it should be - as long as there is an opportunity to do this favorite thing and this is not discredited. But, alas, few people at the present time successfully engage in science at their own expense.
