01.11.2016Moscow Authorities Permit Russian Nationalist March
Maxim Stulov / Vedomosti Moscow authorities have granted permission to hold the nationalist Russian March in southern Moscow's Lublino neighborhood on Nov 4, TV Dozhd reported . According to Yuri Gorsky, one of the march's organizers, the authorities finally granted the nationalists a permit after refusing their previous four applications. "They say that yesterday there was a meeting until late in the night, and the stars leaned in our favor. They agreed upon the march," Gorsky told Dozhd TV.

Correctional authorities in Karelia in northwestern Russia have confirmed the use of force against dissident Ildar Dadin, who was sentenced for repeated participation in protest actions, the Novaya Gazeta newspaper reported Monday. The statement by the authorities describes an alleged incident which occurred on Sept. 11.

01.11.2016Russian Regional Court Blocks 19th Century Material on Bribes
A court in the Russian city of Arzamas, 400 kilometers east of Moscow, has ruled to block access to an article based on an 1837 book called “How to Take Bribes Correctly,” published on the “Arzamas'' educational website. The material has been added to a blacklist of banned websites of Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor but is currently still available online.

Kremlin Press Service At a conference on Monday for interethnic relations in Russia, President Vladimir Putin cited a fabricated news story from the state-owned television network Channel One, which claimed that the Austrian Supreme Court acquitted a Middle-Eastern refugee of raping a 10-year-old boy. Putin mentioned the story in order to explain why Russia should draw on its own experiences with interethnic relations, rather than Europe's.

01.11.2016Ford to Halt Production in Russia's Leningrad Region
The Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk plans to halt production from the middle of November to the end of the year. "The assembly line has stopped for economic reasons," said Artyom Yashenkov, a representative of the enterprise's trade union told the Interfax news agency. The agency reported that it had not yet received confirmation on the suspension from representatives of Ford Sollers, the joint venture responsible for manufacturing Ford vehicles in Russia.

Two new criminal cases have been opened against a group of North Korean sailors who assaulted Russian border guards in the Sea of Japan on Oct. 15. "Presently there are preliminary investigations in six criminal cases in which six Russian border guards are recognized as victims and six North Korean citizens are accused of criminal activities," Oksana Polshakova, an official from the Far East Investigative Administration for Transport, told the Interfax news agency.

Monson, who does not speak Russian, does his best to belt out the lyrics of “Peremen” (Change), a classic song by the Soviet band Kino. “Change! Our hearts demand it!” he repeats in heavily accented Russian from behind the wheel of what appears to be a van.

In an article by Lyubov Protsenko entitled "Stronger Together," the mayor of Slovenia's capital city Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic, was misquoted as saying his country was among the first in Europe to recognize the Crimean referendum of 2014.

Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov has publicly expressed his disagreement with possible cuts in the state budget for 2017. "If the practice of budget cuts continues, the country will not be able to develop, and we will not be able to fulfill our social obligations," Kadyrov wrote in a post on his Instagram account. He also proposed that the Federal Program on the Restoration of the Economy and Social Sphere of the Chechen Republic, which he called "very effective," should be resumed.
