Judges have been instructed to examine all circumstances of such cases in greater detail, particularly in cases that involve the sharing of allegedly extremist material on social media.

Oleg Popov Dijk, Hans van / Anefo Oleg Popov, one of Russia’s most beloved clowns, died at the age of 87 last night in Rostov-on-Don, Russian media reported on Thursday. Popov was on tour at the time of his death. Popov, dubbed the “Sunshine Clown” by a French journalist, began his career in the post-war years, first in Saratov and then in Moscow. After a stint with the Youth Circus under the celebrated clown Pencil (Karandash), Popov primarily performed at the New Circus.

Russia's State Duma has passed a new law which makes inducement to doping a criminal offense. The legislation was introduced by deputies Dmitry Svishchev from the LDPR party and Marat Bariev and Ildar Gilmutdinov from United Russia. The bill was passed in its third reading on Thursday after a number of amendments.

Alexander Serov, Kossiyev's deputy, has taken his post as head of the facility while an investigation into the incident is being conducted.

Peter Kovalev / TASS The removable field at the new Zenit football stadium, currently under construction in St. Petersburg, does not meet FIFA's field requirements for shock absorption. A source who witnessed FIFA's inspection of the field on Oct. 31 told the Regnum news agency that after jumping on the field, the FIFA inspector said that no championship match could be played on it. According to the inspector, the field failed the requirement by a factor of seven.
