A selection of materials for Anna Nemzer's program “Total Recall” on the TV channel “Dozhd”

Обновлено: 8 ноября 2025
In the program “Total Recall,” Anna Nemzer traced the evolution of the man who now calls himself the president of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Putin did not initially come to power as a fully formed dictator with a predetermined plan to invade Ukraine or ignite a world war two decades later. Yet from the very first moment he assumed power, year after year, he methodically built the entire infrastructure required for authoritarian rule — using the classic methods of a dictator while adapting them to the realities of a nation still emerging from the collapse of the USSR. The result is a program that outlines Putin’s playbook, Putin’s manual. This collection brings together some of the materials used in preparing that program.
