After a serious long illness. Time of Nicholas II - Analytical Portal Polit.ru
Boris Akunin AST Publishing House represents Boris Akunin’s book “After a serious long illness. Time of Nicholas II ” - the final volume of the“ history of the Russian state ”. “This era is devoted to more literature than the rest of the domestic history combined. Entire academic institutions were engaged in the "history of the revolution" - in essence, in a very short period. Perhaps we can say that previous volumes of the History of the Russian State were preparation for this.

Wipe the memory of the nation
One of the most painful problems of Russia is the problem of historical memory. This is a country in constant PTSD. Her most severe psychological injury is the memory of the Stalinist terror, when, according to the most moderate estimates, about a million people were executed and five million were sent to camps. Analysis and awareness of this terrible experience is an indispensable condition for the recovery of the nation, a kind of vaccination from relapse of totalitarianism.

"Tsar Peter Alekseevich"
On November 1, the fifth book of the Cycle of the Russian State is published in AST. Today in "New" is the first publication J.-M. POST. Portrait of Peter I 1717 The period described in this book is very short, even shorter than the reign of Peter I (1682–1725), because at first the monarch ruled only nominally, and the events of those years were set out in the previous volume.

Letter from Mikhail Khodorkovsky
Like many people in the world, New Year's holidays have been my favorite since childhood. Christmas tree, gifts, fireworks - a winter miracle. At first, its creators were my grandparents, my dad and mom. Then everything changed naturally - I became a dad, then a grandfather. The understanding of the holiday has also changed - now it is when you can do a miracle yourself and rejoice in the joy of others, feeling like a small part of the hand of a good God.

Normal demonstration
With these two words, my sensation from the Saturday action is exhausted. You can even shorter: deja vu. On the one side: Novelty has long been gone. Nobody believes that Putin will open his ears and he will begin to behave differently. The rally style has become obsolete. But it is also true that: There were no less people than on demonstrations before the "twisting of the nuts". This means that arrests and searches did not frighten anyone. A new political season has begun.

Political ornithology
People ask me all the time how I feel about the elections of the Opposition Coordination Council and whether I am going to run for membership. My answer is short: I treat you well; I won't run for office. Now long, with explanations. I'll start with a lyrical and poetic digression. Not for beauty, but for clarity. I’m not the first to think of Gorky’s ornithological sketch of the early 20th century in connection with the current state of our political mood.
