Process: Day172th-Day 178
After Judge Viktor Danilkin refused to defend Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Plato Lebedev to satisfy the request for the allocation of prosecutors, unsinkable prosecutors again began to present evidence. In recent days, they returned to the very first volumes of the case, reading in them what for some reason did not read earlier. At the same time, the judge now and then declared to the prosecutor Valery Lakhtin - whose share, as usual, had a reading of most of the documents submitted - that he already submitted the materials he selected in court. Lawyers and accused, for their part, continued to indicate to the prosecutors to incomplete the presentation of documents, the announcement of documents that are not related to the case, to an arbitrary interpretation of the written.
In an interview with "Daily Journal", Platon Lebedev's lawyer
Elena Lipzer commented on the events of the last days in court:
“After the prosecutors already actually read, as it seemed to us, to the end, all the materials reached the last volumes, suddenly returned to the beginning and began to read from the first volumes, in a chaotic manner that for some reason they did not immediately read, apparently, because they did not consider it necessary. In what order they continue to read now, there is no logic. As it was inconsistent, it remained. It seems that they just fill the time in this way. They still lower something, some conclusions are added from themselves, although now it is not the stage when you can draw conclusions. In a word, they do what they want. The judge cannot influence the prosecutors, because now the stage of representing the evidence of the prosecution, and they represent them in the sequence and in the volume in which they want, this is their right. Once these volumes will end, and they will have nothing to read. Another question is that they can somehow supplement the materials, so it is difficult to predict anything. ”
