In the Sverdlovsk region, the court is considering the recognition of the extremist book "Selected Hadiths" by Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf Kandehlavi.
How we became aware on May 25, 2015, the city court of Pervouralsk is considering lawsuit filed by the prosecutor's office for the recognition of the extremist book "Selected hadiths" of Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf Kandehlavi (Kazan, "Center innovative technologies", 2003; 639 pages). The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit in court based on expert conclusion made by a senior expert linguist of the expert unit FSB of the Russian Federation for the Sverdlovsk region Svetlana Mochalova. In violation legislation, the expert was asked questions, the resolution of which falls within the competence of the court, and not an expert linguist: does the book contain information aimed at inciting religious hatred and promoting superiority or inferiority of citizens on religious grounds. Not being religious expert, Mochalova answered this question in the affirmative, based on his own interpretation of the content of individual hadiths. The trial continues, the interested party - the local religious organization of Muslims "Sabr" - involves other experts in the trial: Doctor of Philosophy S. Mezentsev and Islamic theologian, chairman of the committee on education and science of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Asian part of Russia I. Merazhov .
The very meaning of the suit of the prosecutor's office of Pervouralsk is not clear. It can be assumed that attention law enforcement agencies attracted the compiler of the collection. Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf Kandehlavi (1917–1965) really is one of the ideologists banned in Russia - from our point of view, without any reason - religious Tablighi Jamaat movement. However, he is not the author presented in the collection of texts, which he only selected and distributed according to topics. Recall that hadiths are ancient traditions about the words and actions of the prophet Muhammad - are sacred texts for Muslims, according to authority second only to the Quran. You don't need to be an FSB expert in order to to draw conclusions that ancient Islamic texts are characterized by rejection polytheism, apostasy, various kinds of sins, and people who betray to this, are evaluated negatively in the Muslim religious literature. But blame medieval religious authors in the lack of religious tolerance and tolerance meaningless. Just as it is pointless to evaluate ancient texts in terms of modern legislation on extremism. The question is what do they want to achieve? law enforcement through similar lawsuits that occur more frequently. The defense of modern society against medieval theologians is a rather dubious goal. It is also difficult to suspect the authorities of wanting to ban one from world religions, the adherents of which make up a significant part of the local population. Most likely, in the heat of how fierce, just as illiterate struggle with a sometimes illusory "extremist enemy", law enforcement officers do not even question the ultimate goals their actions, nor about the inevitable costs of this battle - the radicalization of Russian Muslims.
