In addition, the prosecutor demanded for Sentsov the restriction of freedom for 2 years. For another person involved in the case - Alexander Kolchenko - prosecutors asked 12 years of imprisonment with restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months.
On Wednesday, August 19, in the Rostov-on-Don in the North Caucasian District Military Court, the next stage of the debate of the parties in the case of Sentsov and Kolchenko began. The cases of both defendants were allocated in a separate production and are considered in a special order, since they went on a deal with the investigation. The first court hearing was held in late July. Then one of the key witnesses - Gennady Afanasyev - abandoned his testimony against Sentsov and stated that he had given them under pressure.

The authors of the appeal are asked to immediately release the director, remove the accusations from him for a lack of evidence and rehabilitate him. They insist on conducting an impartial investigation of the circumstances of the detention of Sentsov by the FSB officers, as well as a thorough verification of the filmmaker’s applications about torture. Under the letter, among others, the directors of VIM Wenders, Aki Kaurismaki, Andrzei Vaida, Krzysztof Zanussi, Agnoshka Holland, Stephen Doldri, Mike Li Low, and actor Daniel Olbrysky, signed.
The Council of Ministers of the self -proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic decided to make the Russian ruble the main monetary unit in the territory of the LPR on September 1. In the fall, salaries of state employees, as well as pensions and other social payments, will be paid in rubles.
The Council of Ministers explained that the purpose of the ruble by the official currency in the territory of the LPR will be carried out with the aim of stabilizing the financial and money system. The Ukrainian hryvnia has recently experienced a sharp decrease, and financial transactions in an unrecognized republic are carried out mainly in Russian rubles.
Payment of pensions. Photo: novorossia.su Editor commentary: Back in March 2015, the LPR authorities introduced a multi -vegetable system on the territory controlled by him, which implied settlements in Russian rubles, Ukrainian hryvnias and American dollars. It was assumed that this will be a “transition” currency that will act before the formation of an independent monetary system in the LPR. A similar decision was made in the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Later, the leadership of the DPR and the LPR several times changed its opinion on the issue of introducing its own currency. In Donetsk, such an idea was even called a scam. In early December last year, the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky stated that the LPR would continue to make hryvnias. By the spring of 2015, in Lugansk they chose to pay pensions in rubles at a rate of 0.5 hryvnias.
The French retailer “Auchan” filed claims against the regional department of the Rosselkhoznadzor, which previously suspended for a day the activities of meat workshops and departments of four network hypermarkets.
The claims were filed in the department of the department in Moscow, the Moscow and Tula regions. Two claims of retailers were registered on August 10. The court hearing for one of them is scheduled for September 17. Auchan claims are not explained.
On August 4, the Rosselkhoznadzor discovered in minced meat sold under the Auchan brand, animals DNA, which were not announced on the label. On August 19, the department suspended the activity of meat workshops in four network hypermarkets for a day for complete disinfection.
"Auchan." Photo: ngs55.ruEditor commentary: The department was first interested in the activities of the capital and Moscow Region Auchan hypermarkets at the end of July, after the retailer committed violations in the storage, processing and implementation of chilled meat. In particular, the organization’s experts discovered the exceeding the maximum permissible level of the content of the intestinal sticks and the lister in sausages and chilled semi -finished products. It was noted that in Auchan they prepare pizza with an expired sausage. The head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Countering Corruption, Irina Yarovaya, for his part, even demanded from Auchan to apologize to Russian buyers.
Inspections of the Auchanov, in turn, caused concern at the French Embassy in Russia. Commenting on a letter from the French embassy, the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor department in Moscow, the Moscow and Tula regions Evgeny Antonov said: “We understand everything. But we do our job, and retail chains should do our own qualitatively. ”
The company "Auchan" was founded in 1961 in France. Now the retail chain has almost 3,000 stores in 17 countries. Her staff around the world is almost 300 thousand people. The company has been operating in Russia since 2002. The story of the name “Auchan” and the emblem is curious - birds. “Auchan” is a consciously inaccurate spelling recording of the French words Hauts Champs - “high fields”. That is what the quarter was called in the French city of the line, where the first store was created. The bird depicted on the emblem is also associated with the “fields” recalls the bird “trill”, which is in French: Au Chant.

In Pskov, the court sentenced the Estonian police officer Eston Kokhver to 15 years in prison on charges of espionage. He was also a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a maximum regime colony in Russia.
Eston Kokhver was found guilty of espionage, smuggling, wearing weapons, as well as in the illegal crossing of the state border. Speaking with the final word at the meeting on August 7, Kokhver did not admit his guilt. The prosecutor, for his part, asked for him 16 years in prison.
The FSB announced the detention of an employee of the Southern Branch of the Southern Branch of the Department of Security Police (PB) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia (local special services) in September last year. Then it was reported that Eston Kochver found special equipment for a hidden entry, Taurus gun and five thousand euros, as well as materials “which have the character of an intelligence task”. According to some reports, Kokhver tried to get some secret information about the activities of the FSB and met with his agent - a citizen of Russia.
According to Tallinn, Kokhver was abducted in Estonia and delivered to Russia. The country's security police say that he "performed official duties to prevent a cross -border crime associated with smuggling."
Eston Kokhver. Photo: OCDN.eeEditor's comment: The detention of Eston Kochver occurred against the backdrop of Russia's tense relations with NATO and the European Union, which is Estonia. In the detention (or abduction) of Estonets, some saw a political background. Retired Estonian General Ants Laaneoots suggested that the propaganda campaign for "hostile Estonia" would follow the arrest. “This is all connected with the promise of NATO to provide us with guarantees, create additional units, increase the presence. This is a kind of response, ”he said.
Other experts note that spy scandals between Russia and Estonia have occurred repeatedly over the past time. A few years ago, a PB officer Alexei Dressen was detained in Tallinn, who was accused of transmitting information from the FSB, later he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. The most loud scandal occurred in 2008, when the press was obtained that a senior Estonian official Herman Simm, who led the Department for the Protection of State Secrets and had access to NATO materials, transmitted information to the Russian special services for more than 10 years. Despite the fact that Russia did not admit his agent, Herman Simma was proved by the court and he was sentenced to prison.
Member of the ruling party of reforms, security expert Jaanus Raeahmyuga believes that initially there was no political background in the story with Kokhver, it appeared later. “Figuratively speaking, there was a clash of two special services. This incident was an ordinary working incident who did not have a political background or a goal to arrange a provocation against Estonia or NATO, says Rakhumyagi. “After he received publicity, he had a political motive.”
The trick of the day

Pensioners. Photo: yuga.ruEditor commentary: This criminal story began with the fact that the old woman suspected her neighbor that she was spoiling her and “envy black envy”. Suspicions were supported by her elderly friend. Together they decided to hire a killer and get out of the rural sorceress. A friend offered to become a killer to a local resident for a monetary reward of 15 thousand rubles. Grandmother insisted that it was possible to kill a sorceress only with a knife hit in the heart. “Behind her in her heart, if only she threw the horses. The faster, the better, until the weekend, so that it does not get to the church. 15 thousand, huh? I will give three thousand now, the rest later. Retail 7 thousand at the nephew. And I will return 5 more with a pension. I myself could, but she knows me, ”the recording of the conversation of the failed “ customer ” , provided by Altai investigators , quotes the recording of the conversation of the failed investigators. The man agreed to these conditions, took the deposit and knife for the murder, but went not to “kill the old woman”, but went straight to the police. A few days later he told the suspect that the victim was allegedly dead and provided her with “evidence” prepared by the police. The elderly woman who believed in him agreed to give the remaining amount and was detained when transferring money.
