1. The prosecutor requested 23 years of strict regime for Sentsov

The state prosecution requested 23 years in a maximum security colony for Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov, accused of preparing terrorist attacks in Crimea. In addition, the prosecutor demanded for Sentsov the restriction of freedom for 2 years. For another person involved in the case - Alexander Kolchenko - prosecutors asked 12 years of imprisonment with restriction of freedom for 1 year and 6 months.

On Wednesday, August 19, in the Rostov-on-Don in the North Caucasian District Military Court, the next stage of the debate of the parties in the case of Sentsov and Kolchenko began. The cases of both defendants were allocated in a separate production and are considered in a special order, since they went on a deal with the investigation. The first court hearing was held in late July. Then one of the key witnesses - Gennady Afanasyev - abandoned his testimony against Sentsov and stated that he had given them under pressure.

The FSB announced the detention of Oleg Sentsov and three of his accomplices in the Crimea at the end of May 2014. The suspects allegedly created a terrorist community, which is a division of the extremist “Right Sector” prohibited in Russia. According to the investigation, on the eve of Victory Day, they were going to act on a home -made explosive devices near the eternal flame and the monument to Lenin in Simferopol. 2. In the LPR, the ruble will become the main currency

The Council of Ministers of the self -proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic decided to make the Russian ruble the main monetary unit in the territory of the LPR on September 1. In the fall, salaries of state employees, as well as pensions and other social payments, will be paid in rubles.

The Council of Ministers explained that the purpose of the ruble by the official currency in the territory of the LPR will be carried out with the aim of stabilizing the financial and money system. The Ukrainian hryvnia has recently experienced a sharp decrease, and financial transactions in an unrecognized republic are carried out mainly in Russian rubles.

3. "Auchan" sued Rosselkhoznadzor
