"Ensemble of Christ the Savior" again included in the list of extremist materials

The songs "Jews" and "Cut their well-fed faces" are forbidden.

From the Federal List of Extremist Materials updated on January 11, 2016, it became known that on October 8, 2015, the Moscow District Court of Nizhny Novgorod recognized the song "Jews" by the group "The Ensemble of Christ the Savior and Mother Earth Cheese" as extremist (paragraph 3237 of the list), and on October 22 - composition "Cut their full faces" of the same musical group (p. 3230). Copies of songs available on the VKontakte social network and on the sites get-tune.net, hqmp3.ru, myzlo.info and muzbaron.com were banned.

The first song contains xenophobic rhetoric characteristic of everyday life, brought to the point of grotesque accusations of Jews of all sins and calls for reprisal against them, while xenophobic pathos is reduced and ridiculed in a manner characteristic of the group. The parody of the second song with aggressive calls for violent actions against officials is less obvious.

In 2014-2015, a number of video clips and one audio recording of the "Christ the Savior Ensemble" were already included in the list of extremist materials. We believe that the legality of the band's song bans is debatable. Although the "Christ the Savior Ensemble" is popular in the far right, and the appeals in the songs, even if they are parodic, can be taken seriously by some of the audience, many other statements that are not subject to the law can carry potential danger. In general, the banning of the band's songs is a prime example of how artistic creation is too difficult to interpret within the purview of law enforcement.
