Loyola died, Ilyich was born
On April 22, 1541, Ignatius Loyola and his associates became monks. Unlike other orders, the Jesuits take four, not three, vows - non-covetousness, chastity, obedience, plus fidelity and obedience to the Pope. Perhaps that is why they are in the first roles in the Vatican: they manage the Gregorian University and the Oriental Institute, and the activities of Vatican Radio.
