October Revolution
The morning of November 7th did not paint the walls of my apartment in Washington with a delicate color. Gloomy thoughts were evoked by an ironic telephone congratulation on the 89th anniversary of the October Revolution from an American friend. Everyone to the Congressional elections, I shouted back at this Republican, reinforcing my call with words about the inevitability of a democratic takeover. The exchange of pleasantries ended there, but my visionary abilities exceeded all expectations.

There are enemies all around!
Russia's chief sanitary officer Gennady Onishchenko found the cause of mass alcohol poisoning. “This is a planned action,” Mr. Onishchenko said. It was invented by enemies who want to thwart the state’s efforts to restore order in the alcohol market, and these enemies are from Georgia and Moldova.

Aircraft building collective farm
In the Kremlin Aircraft building collective farm November 8, 2006 Alexander Golts During recent communication with the people, Vladimir Putin did not hide his irritation by the fact that the formation of an aircraft construction holding, the decree of which he signed in February, is going too slowly: “I want to send a signal to those who are doing this. Now there, as in the eastern bazaar, they determine whose assets are more expensive, whose cheaper to satisfy all participants in this process.

Ministerial fears
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli called the Russian side's plans to increase the price of gas “political blackmail.” Earlier, Gazprom announced its intention to raise the gas price for Georgia to $230 per thousand cubic meters starting in 2007. Meanwhile, another Georgian minister, Gela Bezhuashvili, said that he feared military aggression from Russia. Despite all the general horror, Bezhuashvili’s statement looks like absurdity.

Passion by committee
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Credit Institutions and Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov, apparently, was terribly tired of dealing with finance and decided to fight for the purity of the Russian language. Aksakov proposed creating a public committee that would include linguists, philologists, translators, and journalists. The goal is to fight “Anglicisms”. It is intended to remove, first of all, borrowed English words from official documents.

Holding breath
The counting of voting results in the US congressional elections is ending. It is already obvious that the Republicans, led by incumbent President George W. Bush, lost - the Democrats won the majority of seats in the House of Representatives. Now everyone is waiting for the results of the Senate elections: Republicans and Democrats are still running side by side with an equal score.

Equality is on the agenda
According to him, in the subject “History of Religions” it is impossible to single out any of the confessions, “to highlight it, to give it priority.” What will inevitably happen in the case of teaching “Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture”. This is not possible in our state. The Union of Orthodox Citizens has already responded with an indignant statement. In fact, the mayor didn't say anything new.

On measures to restore order in the retail markets of Russian cities (proposals from S. Glazyev addressed to D. Medvedev)
First Deputy Chairman of the Government Russian Federation D.A.Medvedev Dear Dmitry Anatolyevich! The President of Russia has set the task of establishing order in retail markets and freeing them from control by organized crime. Calculations show that due to the criminalization of the commodity distribution network and the blocking of competition by criminal groups that control urban food markets, prices for the latter are inflated by 2-8 times.

We vote with our stomachs
First they dealt with enemy drinks - now Latvian sprats have been banned. Gennady Onishchenko, who is now, apparently, not only the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, but also responsible for relations with the CIS countries, found benzopyrene in sprats. True, there is also a lot of it in Russian sprats, and the ban will obviously provoke a shortage and agitate the market.

Creaking my brains
The authorities are literally mocking officials. Previously, there was only “United Russia” - now they have also come up with “Fair”. This is why officials are suffering: in Nizhny Novgorod, for example, the mayor of the city, Vadim Bulavinov, flatly refused to head the regional branch of United Russia. It is difficult for him to combine party and government activities. Taking risks: there seemed to be a team to join A Just Russia, but no one had yet allowed United Russia to be dynamized.

Word at a crossroads
The first international Festival of Orthodox media “Faith and Word”, which took place two years ago, was very crowded. This time the crowds decided not to arrange: the church press is not particularly stable (as, indeed, secular) - today there is a newspaper, and tomorrow is no longer, therefore, for the current forum, which took place from October 30 to November 2 under the motto “Freedom and responsibility. Christian values in modern Russia ”called only stable publications.

Corollary by concept
Suspects of the murder of United Russia candidate for mayor of Dalnogorsk Dmitry Fortyanov have been detained. After the murder, they immediately started talking about political motives: Gryzlov announced repressions against United Russia, while in Primorye they whispered about the “timber mafia.” Now the arrests have begun - Alexander Fedotov and Konstantin Dolgov are in custody, both supported Fortyanov's rival Alexander Trebilov, both are businessmen.

The holiday we lost
The holiday, so long-awaited for thrill-seekers, passed quite peacefully. Someone somewhere made a quiet noise, they showed it even quieter - and that’s all. The winner was the power that, despite everything, everything, everything that we can - or cannot - say about it, with its ideas about beauty, with dazzling corruption, in which we have already caught up with Honduras, etc., nevertheless, how and any mentally normal government is not interested in shocks.
