A year ago, on July 13, 2017, Chinese human rights activist, philology teacher Liu Xiaobo, winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize "for his long non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China", died. In 2008, he drafted "Charter-08" demanding democratic reforms, which was signed by many Chinese intellectuals. At the end of 2008, two days before the publication of "Charter-08", Liu Xiaobo was arrested and sentenced to 11 years in prison for incitement to undermine the government.
