1918 Creation of the Ukrainian Directory
100 years ago, on November 14, 1918, the Directory of the Ukrainian People's Republic was established in the Bila Tserkva, headed by the Chairman of the Directory Volodymyr Vynnychenko and Chief Ataman (Commander in Chief) Symon Petlyura. It proclaimed itself the only legitimate authority on the territory of Ukraine. A month later, on December 14, the troops of the Directory took Kyiv and overthrew the power of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky.
