A mentally disturbed Iraq war veteran opened fire at Florida airport.
Esteban Santiago, 26, who opened fire at the Florida International Airport, had previously served in Iraq and was treated for a mental disorder after his discharge. Santiago has served in the National Guard since 2007. In 2010 he spent 10 months in Iraq. His unit, according to The New York Times, was engaged in clearing roads. Two colleagues of Santiago died in the attacks of militants. He himself, apparently, did not take a direct part in combat operations.
