About 200 people were detained at protest rallies in Kazakhstan
Kazakh police detained about 100 people in Almaty and the same number in Nur-Sultan, where unsanctioned protests took place, according to local publication HOLA News. The detainees were taken away in dozens of paddy wagons, reports vlast.kz. Radio Azattyk (Radio Liberty) reports that 70 and 40 people were detained in Almaty and Shymkent , respectively, and dozens more in Nur-Sultan. One of the detainees in Almaty, the publication noted, shouted “Shal, ket!” (“Old man, go away!”).
