A new database of politically motivated repression in Russia over the last 12 years, published by OVD-Info, makes it possible to assess the absolute level and dynamics of the repressive actions of the Putin regime. During this period, about 3500 people have been subjected to repression, more than a thousand of whom are currently in prison. The statistics from OVD-Info allow us to distinguish three periods in the history of Russian repressive policy.

Russia's unemployment rate has fallen below 3%, according to Rosstat, while the number of people employed in the economy during the war has increased by 2 million. Both, however, are statistical artefacts. The number of people employed in productive sectors of the economy, on the contrary, has decreased due to the departure of workers involved in the war and those who have died in it, as well as those who left the country.
