The case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (destruction and damage to grave structures committed by a group of persons). In October 2008, the defendants, passing by the cemetery of the village of Yekaterinoslavka, destroyed 11 monuments on the graves.

On January 22, 2009, the trial began in Arkhangelsk in the case against Alexei Mikhailov, accused under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity) in the distribution of the extremist book "Blow of the Russian Gods" and nationalist statements at meetings of the "Opinion of a Patriot" club organized by him.

In Novocheboksarsk, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of hooligan actions leading to ethnic hatred. A group of young people are accused by the court of making a poster with text against the construction of a mosque in the city. The text read: "There will be no mosque here!", next to the inscription was a picture of a man shaking his fist. The poster was pasted on the store door next to the donation box for the Novocheboksarskaya mosque on April 23, 2007.

On January 24, a sanctioned picket of representatives of the Orthodox community "For Holy Rus', for the Future of Children" was held in Moscow near the monument to Gogol on Gogolevsky Boulevard. The organizer of the action said that the purpose of the picket and prayer standing is to protest against "digital identification of citizens and coding systems containing the "number of the beast" 666" and to draw the attention of secular authorities and society to this problem.
