On March 29, 2009, two Kazakh citizens were attacked on Academician Sakharov Avenue in Moscow. The attackers were 22-year-old Sergei Zhikharev and 20-year-old Victoria Petukhova, who, in the company of other far-right young people, came to Academician Sakharov Avenue in search of people with “non-Slavic appearance.” The women were first shouted racial slurs and then beaten and stabbed several times.
