Two members of the Union of Russian People were sentenced in Khabarovsk
On September 16, 2009, the court of the Central District of Khabarovsk convicted the leader and press secretary of the regional branch of the Union of the Russian People (SRN) Pavel Onoprienko and Viktor Chulkin. The convicts were charged with repeated extremist statements at meetings of the organization and holding in October 2007 a rally under extremist slogans at the Regional Musical Theatre.

Roskomnadzor: the effectiveness of anti-extremist activities tends to zero
At the end of August 2009, a report on the work of Roskomnadzor for the first half of 2009 was published. In particular, it says that in the first six months of 2009, more than 9,000 (!) copies of print media were checked "to identify violations related to the use of the media to carry out extremist activities, drug propaganda, pornography, a cult of violence and cruelty" , for which 27 warnings were issued for violation of the requirements of Art. 4 of the Law "On Mass Media".

The Moscow City Court did not satisfy the appeal of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Duel"
On September 16, 2009, the Moscow City Court did not satisfy the cassation appeal of the former editor-in-chief of the Duel newspaper, Yuri Mukhin, who was sentenced to a suspended sentence in June 2009. The verdict of the Savelovsky District Court of Moscow entered into force. Mukhin was found guilty under part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities through the media) and sentenced to two years in prison (conditionally).

A woman from Jehovah's Witnesses was beaten in the Leningrad region

A 74-year-old man beat an elderly woman from the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses when she talked to people on religious topics. The man motivated the beating by the fact that a religious organization is prohibited. He said that "the Cossacks from Rostov will come and kill you all here . " An application was made to the police.

The administration of the Vladimir region through the court demands the release of ROAC churches
On September 10, the Department of Property and Land Relations of the Administration of the Vladimir Region applied to the Vladimir Arbitration Court with a claim for the release of the buildings of six rural churches of the Russian Orthodox Autonomous Church of the ROAC in the Suzdal region "due to the lack of legal grounds for use."
