On January 20, 2010, the head of the Moscow police department, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, at a press conference devoted to summarizing the work of the Moscow police in 2009, stated that in the capital in 2009 "26 racially motivated murders were committed." According to him, in 2009 there were 62 attacks on "persons of non-Slavic appearance" in the city. Of these, 26 were murders and 25 were deliberately inflicted severe bodily harm, of which 5 resulted in the death of the victims.
