A criminal case has been opened into the arson of an Orthodox church in Petrozavodsk
On May 15, 2012, a 29-year-old man was detained in Petrozavodsk, suspected of committing the arson of the Catherine's Church on the night of May 13, 2012 of the year. According to the man, the main motive for the act was an insult to temple staff, who rudely drove him away when he asked for help. He also assures that the arson was committed with the help of "homemade fireworks assembled from glass jars filled with flammable liquid, and copper tube into which firecrackers were inserted.
