St. Petersburg: the international day against homophobia almost ended with an attack on LGBT activists by the far right
On May 17, 2013, in St. Petersburg, on the International Day against Homophobia, there was almost an attack on LGBT activists by nationalists, Orthodox activists and airborne veterans. When about 100 participants of the action arrived at the Champ de Mars to carry out the agreed action, about 200 people with icons and homophobic posters were already waiting for them. The latter shouted insults and slogans at LGBT activists and threw smoke bombs at the crowd.
