On January 27, 2021, the State Duma adopted in the first reading of the bill "On amendments to the Federal Law "On counteracting the legalization (laundering) proceeds from crime and financing terrorism" in terms of clarifying the requirements for religious organizations and legal entities created by them.

The court on Sakhalin began to consider the case of five Jehovah's Witnesses accused under Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code. The appeals against the decision of the Samara court to ban two volumes of the interpretation of the Koran by the medieval author Ibn Kathir and one volume of the tafsir of the modern theologian al-Saadi were rejected.
