10.04.2017Russian 'Failure' Led to Syria Gas Massacre, Says Tillerson
IHA via AP Russia's failure to strip the Syrian government of its chemical weapons stockpile contributed to the death of more than 70 Syrian civilians attacked with sarin gas, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has alleged. Speaking on U.S. television on Sundayevening, Tillerson said that Moscow had failed in its pledge toremove Syria's chemical weapons from the grasp of its ally,President Bashar Assad.

Omit beets, cabbage, duck and rabbit from the menu and you clearly haven’t got the memo. The approach has been something of a revolution for Moscow’s Russian cuisine, which has been rudely shaken from its century-old slumber.

Musa Sadulayev / AP On April 1, the Novaya Gazeta newspaper reported that the Chechnya’s authorities had unleashed a large-scale crackdown on gay men. More than 100 men were detained and tortured in a special prison in February and three unnamed men were killed by their own relatives, the newspaper alleged.

Dozens of people waited in the cold for hours, hoping for a chance to get into the courtroom. State television described the crowds as supporters of the Jehovah's Witnesses, and one outlet claimed the group often targeted Russia's youth as potential converts. But the crowd hadn't come to fight for Russia's religious freedom.

10.04.2017Kremlin: No Meeting Planned for Putin and Tillerson in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans to meet U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during his visit to Moscow, Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Russia's TASS news agency on Monday. “We have not announced any meetings and there is no meeting with Tillerson in the presidential planner as of yet,” Peskov said. “We never announce meetings like that, whether they happen or not.” Rex Tillerson arrives in Moscow to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday, April 12.

10.04.2017Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny Released From Prison
Russian opposition leader and anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny was released today after spending 15 days in jail for disobeying police. Navalny was arrested on March 26 after organizing a nationwide anti-corruption protest. He was sentenced to 15 days in prison after being found guilty of disobeying police orders during the Moscow demonstration.
