Ровно через неделю в Вильнюсе начнется саммит стран НАТО, который должен определить новый этап в стратегии поддержки Украины и сдерживания российской угрозы со стороны альянса. Основной интригой остается политическая формула для обозначения будущих отношений альянса с Украиной — стороны оказались в политическом тупике. Однако, может быть, еще более важный вопрос — о масштабах фактической помощи Украине.

In one week from now, a NATO summit will begin in Vilnius, which is expected to determine a new stage in the alliance’s strategy to support Ukraine and contain the threat of Russia. There is a degree of suspense over the political formula which will define the future relationship between the alliance and Ukraine, as both sides have found themselves at a political impasse. However, perhaps an even more important question is the scale of actual assistance to Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian system of state education has been engulfed in a frenzy of militarism and patriotism. Twice as many military-patriotic events were held in May this year than in the same month last year, with ‘Novaya Gazeta Europe’ calculating a total of 1.5 million such events. The paranoid scale of this 'school brainwashing’ campaign resembles the practices of totalitarian regimes and has concrete reasons behind it.

С начала войны с Украиной систему российского государственного образования и воспитания охватил настоящий милитаристско-патриотический угар: в мае этого года было проведено в два раза больше военно-патриотических мероприятий, чем год назад, а их общее число за год достигло полутора миллионов, подсчитала «Новая газета Европа». Параноидальный масштаб «школьной» кампании «промывания мозгов» напоминает практики тоталитарных режимов и имеет вполне конкретные причины.
